A personal search allows you to request a copy of information held on the Local Land Charges Register for a property. This is different from an official search.
How the service works
- Requests are made by email to Searches@royalgreenwich.gov.uk
- The Local Land Charges Team will run a search of the register
- Results are returned by email as a CSV file
- This service is free of charge
The information provided shows what is recorded on the register at the time the search is carried out.
Processing times
Personal search requests usually take up to 15 working days to process. Timescales may vary depending on demand.
Using the information
The Local Land Charges Register contains charges that may affect land in an area.
Some entries may:
- apply to nearby land, or
- cover a wider area rather than a single property
The information is provided to support your own checks. It is up to the person using the results to:
- review the information
- decide what is relevant
- make any further enquiries they feel are needed
Other information you may need
A personal search only covers the Local Land Charges Register.
If you are carrying out your own checks, you may also need to contact other council services for information they hold.
If you need information about:
- building control, use the building control search
- planning administration, send an email to planningapps.planningapps@royalgreenwich.gov.uk
- planning applications, use our planning portal
- private housing, send an email to private-housing-regulation@royalgreenwich.gov.uk
- pollution or environmental health, call 020 8921 8921
Each service holds its own records and may have different processes or charges.
Help with the register
We can help if:
- an entry on the register appears to be factually incorrect, or
- important details are missing from a record
This helps us keep the register accurate and up to date.
Official searches (LLC1)
If you need:
- confirmation that charges affect a specific property, or
- results that have been checked and verified
You should apply for an official Local Land Charges search (LLC1), which is a paid service.
