Be flexible

Try to be flexible about the areas and type of property you want.

Property size

Be realistic about the size and type of property you need. Don't look for a property that is too small for you in the hope of being transferred to a larger property later on.

You cannot exchange for a home that is bigger than you need.

Remember to ask permission first

Both partners in any exchange must have the permission of each landlord to move. If you don't get the landlord's permission to swap, you could lose your tenancy.
