General Elections (Elections of MPs to the Westminster Parliament)

Parliaments last for up to five years. As the last election was in December 2019, the next election is due by January 2025.

The Boundary Commission for England (BCE) is redrawing constituency boundaries in order to rebalance the number of electors represented by each MP. Their final proposals for the new constituencies are due to be published later this year. The new constituency proposals will be published on their website and highly likely to be in force at the next General Election.

You may have seen messages about the new law that means that voters will need to show certain ID documents when they vote in person. We will provide more information to you nearer to elections where this will apply (any Council by-elections from May 2023 and the Mayor of London election in May 2024). More information is available here from the Electoral Commission.
