How to arrange a conversion
You can convert a civil partnership into a marriage (Gov.UK) with the Royal Borough of Greenwich in any of the following ways:
- have a simple conversion with a deputy superintendent registrar at the register office
- have a renewal of vows and signing of the declaration at the register office
- have a renewal of vows and signing of the declaration at a licensed venue of your choice.
You both need to attend the register office and bring along certain identification documents to complete the declaration.

Please note that you cannot convert an opposite-sex civil partnership to a marriage in England and Wales
Costs.
For a simple conversion, you'll pay:
- £45 for the ceremony
- £11 each for a certificate.
For a renewal of vows at the register office, you'll pay:
- £27 statutory administration fees
- £45 for the ceremony
- £11 each for a certificate.
For a renewal of vows at a venue of your choice, you'll pay:
- £27 statutory administration fees
- the cost of the registrars to attend your chosen venue - the ceremony costs and the certificates are included.
When you'll get your certificate
If you're having a renewal of vows ceremony, you sign the declaration and get your certificate on the day of your ceremony.
If you're having a simple conversion, you sign the declaration and get the certificate on the same day.
