Landlords who manage an HMO in Royal Greenwich must have a licence. To get one, they must make sure the property is a safe and healthy place to live.

You can report an HMO to us if you think, for example, that it:

  • is in poor condition
  • is poorly managed
  • is causing a nuisance
  • does not have a licence

You do not have to live in the property to report it.

Search the landlord register to check if a property is licensed.

Report an HMO

We’ll investigate all reports. We’ll visit the property and establish who’s responsible for managing it.

We’ll check if the property should have a licence. If it does not, we can fine the landlord or take them to court.

Apply for a rent repayment order

If the landlord did not have a licence when they should have, you could apply for a Rent Repayment Order. This means your landlord will have to pay back your last 12 months' rent.
