Electricity and gas supply
We arrange for your gas and electric to be supplied by Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE). We give them the meter readings and arrange for a meter key or card to be sent to you if needed.
If you want to change your supplier you can arrange a transfer with your chosen company. This usually takes around a month to complete.
If there's a problem with the meter key
Sometimes there's a debt on the electric or gas meter, or we're not able to supply a key or card.
Get a new key
If the electric key is missing you'll need to request an RTI code from SSE. This is an 8-digit number which you take to your local pay point outlet to get a new key. You'll need to give SSE all the meter readings and wait an hour after getting the code.
To get an RTI code, call SSE on 03450 267038.
If there's a debt on the meter
If you have the electric key but there's already debt on it, you should either:
- take the key to your local PayPoint outlet and pay the debt. Keep the receipt and contact SSE to arrange a refund
- request an RTI code from SSE if you do not have enough money to pay the debt
If there's a problem with the gas card, contact SSE on 03450 267039.
