About the Panel and how to join

Our Leaseholder Engagement Panel is a resident-led group. It aims to improve our service to our leaseholders.

Leaseholders will set the agenda for every meeting. We want to work together to:

  • address the issues that are most important to you
  • enhance and shape the service we offer based on your needs

We'll use what you bring to the panel to build and improve our engagement and collaboration with you.

What to expect at a meeting

We meet online in the evening, about every 3 months.

There'll be a chance to book a time slot before the meeting to raise issues with us.

The meetings will be in a 'task and finish' format focused on priorities identified by leaseholders. This means, for example, that we'll aim to address a specific problem or agree a clear action plan during the meeting.

A meeting will usually include:

  • presentations or information for residents from council staff shared before the meeting
  • group discussions
  • question and answer sessions
  • minutes, updates and actions from previous meetings

Examples of current topics for the panel include:

  • repayment options for leaseholders
  • tenant and Leaseholder costings comparison
  • how capital works and service charges are funded
  • agreeing communications protocols
  • caretaking services
  • planning an annual leaseholder event

Panel members

The panel is made up of:

  • 2 co-Chairs
  • leaseholders from across the borough
  • council staff
  • an accountable officer champion

The position of Chair will rotate between a staff member from the Home Ownership team, and a nominated leaseholder.

Staff from across the council will join us, depending on the topics discussed. For example, someone from the Repairs team will join if we're talking about repairs.

The accountable officer champion will be Shaun Flook, Assistant Director of Housing Tenancy and Needs. He will follow up on the panel's recommendations and report back on changes made.

Why you should join

A message from our nominated leaseholder co-Chair:

"The Leaseholder Engagement Panel is an opportunity for your voice to be heard and effect changes to what you get as a leaseholder."
