You can apply for help if you’re struggling to pay your rent or Council Tax.
This is a short, one-off payment if you’re facing exceptional financial hardship.
If we accept your application, you could get a:
- Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) Housing Payment to help towards your rent
- Council Tax Hardship Fund (CTHF) if you’re finding it difficult to pay your Council Tax
You can apply for one or both types of support.
Who can apply for support
You must:
- have applied or be receiving Council Tax Support to apply for CTHF
- be receiving Housing Benefit or housing costs through Universal Credit to apply for CRF Housing Payment
If you meet these conditions but are not sure, you can still apply. We’ll confirm if you can get support.
How we assess your application
We consider everything you tell us about your situation to make our decision.
We look at your individual circumstances, including:
- health conditions or disabilities
- caring responsibilities
- changes in your household or income
- changes to your home to adapt to your disability
- any other reasons you cannot meet your living costs, such as high utility and food bills
Give as much information in your application as you can.
