Take part in the legendary Notting Hill Carnival! Participants will design and create their own Carnival costume and performance inspired by sound system culture and migration. They’ll explore the stories of Caribbean elders who helped shape Carnival culture in Britain and sound system culture and learn how Carnival costumes are designed and made. Participants are invited to share and explore their own stories, heritage, and ideas.
Participants will work with designer and artist Cee Boulaqui of Vibrance Mas to make their own Carnival costume using sustainable and recycled materials, creating bold pieces that tell a story and celebrate the people who came before them.
They will perform wearing their costumes as part of the Children’s Day Parade at Notting Hill Carnival.
