The space is highly accessible via transport links (bus, Elizabeth Line, DLR and National Rail) and Blue Badge Parking is available in Calderwood Car Park behind the Front Room. There are also baby changing and breastfeeding areas, disabled access toilet, volunteers who speak a range of languages and a quiet space upstairs for prayer/reflection. This is a dementia-friendly venue (all signage is accessible).

Join us during Black History Month as Scribes with Vibes proudly celebrates the launch of our anthology, Where I’m From.
Many Truths, Nine Voices, One Root.
This special collection brings together nine writers from diverse backgrounds, each sharing their own reflections on identity, heritage, family, culture and belonging.
Through poetry, personal stories and lived experiences, Where I’m From explores the different journeys that have shaped us, while celebrating the connections that bring us together. From Africa, Caribbean and the wider diaspora, our writers reflect on their roots, their communities, their memories and the generations that came before them.
The book grew from the Scribes with Vibes creative writing programme, where writers were encouraged to explore their voices in a supportive space and tell their stories in their own way.
Our launch is an opportunity to celebrate not only the publication of the book, but also the people and stories behind its pages.
What to expect
During the event, you will hear live readings from our contributors, discover more about the inspiration behind Where I’m From and have the opportunity to meet and speak with the writers.
Every person attending will receive a FREE copy of Where I’m From to take home, with the opportunity to have your book personally signed by the contributing authors.
This is more than a book launch. It is an opportunity to come together during Black History Month, celebrate diverse voices, share stories and recognise the richness of our different histories, cultures and experiences.
