Participants are invited to join a restorative mindful walk in Greenwich Park.

The walk offers an opportunity to experience the calming and restorative energy of nature, movement and breath. It provides a moment to slow down, reconnect and leave feeling more restored than on arrival.

This is not a hike and is not about covering distance. It is a slow, mostly silent walk with plenty of time to pause, notice and settle. The group will move between simple practices, including mindful walking, reconnecting with the breath, gentle movement and using the senses to engage with the surrounding natural environment.

Greenwich Park provides a beautiful setting for the experience. Its open views allow the eye to wander across the horizon, while ancient sweet chestnut trees, generous oaks, vocal birds and cheeky squirrels bring the park to life. Even during periods of heat and dry weather, there is plenty of life and greenery to offer a welcome break from the four corners of a screen.

At the heart of the walk is a simple invitation for everyone to come as they are. Nature does not ask anyone to be polished, productive or perfect. Instead, it offers a slower rhythm that can help people feel more present, connected and calm.

Afterwards

After the session, anyone who would like to stay and connect is welcome to join the group at the Pavilion Café. It is a lovely spot with a view, toilets and picnic tables. Staying afterwards is completely optional, and there is no need to buy anything.

The guide

Kathi has worked in the impact sector for many years, across government, frontline services, research, grantmaking and, more recently, consulting.

Over the past year, she has followed her curiosity and explored different approaches to self-care. After sharing a selection of her favourite practices with family and friends, she is now excited to introduce them to the wider impact community.

Kathi approaches the walk as a curious practitioner and lifelong learner, rather than as someone who has all the answers.

Practical information

The walk will take place mainly on natural and uneven ground in Greenwich Park. Although it is a slow walking practice rather than an intense one, participants are likely to be on their feet for most of the hour and may walk across grass and around trees.

Some exercises may involve sitting down. Anyone who would prefer not to sit directly on the ground should bring a small mat, bag or jacket to sit on.

Participants should wear comfortable clothing and sturdy footwear suitable for uneven ground. The session will take place outdoors whatever the weather, so everyone should dress appropriately for rain, cold, wind or sunshine. Sunscreen, a hat or additional layers may be needed, and participants should bring water.
