MillerMoss presents two 1-hour plays, written and performed by Slade Wolfe Enterprises. Both shows had sell-out runs in Edinburgh this year, and received numerous 5* reviews. Please stay for the after-show audience discussion, if you can.

A Forgotten Woman: Mrs Oscar Wilde

History remembers one of its most infamous Victorians, Oscar Wilde. But what happened to the woman who loved him, married him and paid an extraordinary price for his downfall? Constance Lloyd was a feminist, writer and mother who survived an abusive childhood to become one of the most recognisable faces in celebrity London of the late 1800s. Her story is told here in her own words, drawn from letters to those she knew and loved, revealing a wit to rival Oscar’s own and a sense of self that has audiences rooting for her from beginning to end. Written and performed by Lexi Wolfe, the play is funny, poignant and deeply moving.

1 King, 2 Princes & Shakespeare's Lie

Was Richard III truly one of England’s most notorious villains or the victim of history’s greatest smear campaign? Returning to confront the myths that condemned him, the ‘Hunchback King’ challenges Shakespeare’s portrayal of him as a murderous, scheming tyrant. In this gripping one-man performance, power, propaganda, legacy and reputation collide as Richard defends his reign and questions who gets to decide the truth. Provocative, compelling and darkly entertaining, this show asks whether history judged the wrong man. Written and performed by Andrew Slade, the play combines historical research, humour and audience participation.
