Culture Jam in the Park, a free, youth-led one day festival, is coming to Greenwich Park on Saturday 19 September.
Created by young people aged 13 to 18 from across the borough, the festival is part of Ignite!, a unique creative programme that brings together the council, local young people, and cultural and heritage organisations. The programme is supported through the Mayor of London's Cultural Impact Award.
From start to finish, this free to attend festival has been shaped by the young producers’ ideas and desires for the future of Greenwich and is built around one powerful principle: ‘No one should feel left out.’
It will encourage attendees to celebrate our borough’s unique heritage through their own stories, lyrics, memories and observations and connect with the diverse cultures of our communities.
The Culture Jam in the Park will bring participants and audiences together through creativity, culture and shared experiences, showcasing the incredible creativity of local young people, alongside established acts including South London's Pritt, Ugandan duo ‘Ganda Boys’ and festival headliners TAOSOL, the collective behind London's first electro fusion jam session.
Plus, visitors can expect a Silent Disco Skate Jam, arts and crafts and movement workshops, a henna artist, live food demonstrations, a community cooking competition and a heritage exhibition curated by young producers, alongside Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust, the Heritage Service Partner of Ignite!
As the custodian of the borough's Museum Collection and Archive, the Trust provides the link between the borough's past and future. The project has enabled an additional team to support with cataloguing to ensure the objects and records remain accessible. It will inform a new digital archive and refreshed collection for the borough.
The Culture Jam producers are also on the lookout for additional acts to join the already exciting line-up. If you’re a young artist or performer living in the Royal Borough of Greenwich and you’re interested in taking to the Culture Jam stage, get involved.
The event is free to attend and a limited amount of free food vouchers for under 25s will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, so that cost won’t be a barrier to enjoying the day.
There will be a dedicated sensory calm space, providing a quiet environment for anyone who needs a break from the excitement.

The Cultural Impact Award is part of a £2.3million investment into arts and culture in the Royal Borough of Greenwich as part of the council’s Getting Things Done programme.
