The council will bring the community together to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day on Tuesday 27 January. The annual event will take place at 10.30am at Woolwich Town Hall.

Led by Councillor Linda Bird, Mayor of Royal Greenwich, the service will feature performances, readings and multi-faith prayers.

Holocaust Memorial Day is marked each year on 27 January, the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp. It's a time to remember the six million Jewish men, women and children murdered during the Holocaust. We also commemorate the millions more people murdered through the Nazi persecution of other groups and where persecution led in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

We also encourage residents to take part in the national initiative to ‘Light the Darkness.’ Join people across the country to place a light in your window on Holocaust Memorial Day at 8pm.
