We are marking the start of the Morris dancing season with our traditional 'Easter Chair Lifting' event, which we've been doing for the last forty years.
We bring a chair decorated with flowers, into which a lady volunteer is sat and then raised up three times, in between each morris dance. It's an Easter celebration which used to happen all over England - we're one of the few groups who still do it.
Blackheath Morris is a Men's Cotswold Morris Dancing side that formed towards the end of the 1960s, we have performed all over the place, including as support to the band Hawkwaind in the 1970s and at the closing ceremony of the London Olympic Games (with Eric Idle)
