Learn the basics and gain practical skills in repointing for DIY home maintenance.
South East London Community Energy is teaming up with WEVA Collective to bring you an introduction to repointing so that you can make small repairs to your home's brick work.
You will learn:
- Basics of masonry and trouble shooting water tightness issues
- How to determine if your house has cement or lime mortar
- How to prepare and apply mortar
- How to repair fallen bricks, fix past poor repair, and address other routine maintenance
- We will be practicing on a garden wall of a real home so that you come away confident to make small repairs to your home.

These workshops do not lead to professional qualifications, but are designed for educational purposes for :
- competent DIYers
- people who would like to gain practical understanding about brick repair
- people who would like to be able to have knowledgeable conversations with contractors.
How much do this workshop cost?
This session costs £15, but is free if:
- you're definitely going to repair your home within the next year, OR
- are interested in buddying up with other course attendees to repair, OR
- would like to attend 2 or more DIY courses in the series, OR
- or you cannot afford the fee.
