£10Acclaimed film and TV scriptwriter David Farr (‘The Night Manager’, ‘Hanna’) has just completed his ‘The Book of Stolen Dreams’ series, a thrilling fantasy adventure aimed at children. As the last book in the series is published, David joins Suzi Feay to talk about his work and the real-life adventure that inspired him: the flight of his Jewish great-aunt and -uncle as unaccompanied children from Nazi Germany in the 1930s.
David Farr is the screenwriter behind the BAFTA-winning adaptation of The Night Manager and the action thriller Hanna, and a former Associate Director at the Royal Shakespeare Company. His theatrical background includes co-founding Cambridge Talking Tongues theatre company with Rachel Weisz while at university, where their ‘poor theatre’ aesthetic won the Guardian Student Drama Award at Edinburgh Fringe in 1991.
