In keeping with this year's Black History Month theme, Honouring Our Communities, Tender Grace Christian Centre is hosting a free Career Masterclass for teenagers and young people in the borough.
The afternoon includes a panel discussion with professionals from a range of industries, career workshops covering university, apprenticeship and school-leaver routes, a CV writing masterclass, and networking with industry leaders. There will also be discussions on the contribution and impact of Black people in the UK. Free food and drink will be provided.
Young people from lower-income backgrounds still face real barriers to the best-paid careers, and those barriers are growing as entry-level jobs disappear: graduate vacancies have fallen by almost half in the past year. Many young people in the borough don't have a network that can show them what's possible or how to get there. This event aims to close that gap by putting young people in the same room as professionals who can share honest advice, practical skills and real connections.
Tender Grace Christian Centre has served the Woolwich community for over ten years. The event is led by a youth mentor with a decade of experience in finance.
