What we do

The Parking Services Team is responsible for statutory civil parking enforcement and enforcement by CCTV of moving traffic and bus lane contraventions in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. It is also responsible for:

  • the setting of charges for on-street and off-street designated parking spaces and parking permits and the management and administration of these assets
  • civil enforcement of parking, bus lane and moving traffic contraventions within the Royal Borough of Greenwich and Council owned off-street car parks
  • issuing permits and dispensations for on-street and off-street parking
  • arranging suspensions of parking bays.
Why we need your information and how we use it

There are two key areas why we need your information:

  • the recovery of outstanding penalty charges. We need this information to write to you to ensure that you are aware of any outstanding actions and the rights you have in relation to them. These penalty charges are issued under the Traffic Management Act 2004, London Local Authorities Act 1996, London Local Authorities and Transport for London Act 2003 and associated regulations.
  • the administration and sale of parking permits under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. We need this information to administer permits and verify that you are eligible for a permit in one of our controlled parking zones.
What type of information we collect

In order to effectively and efficiently deliver the service the following information is collected (although the amount of information collected may vary):

  • name
  • address
  • email address
  • contact number
  • any relevant medical information or disability
  • property ownership and status
  • vehicle registration mark
  • vehicle details
  • additional information in support of request or application which can include any detail from the applicant.
Who we may share your information with

We may share the information with:

  • Council departments and other authorities' Internal Audit and Anti-Fraud teams in connection with any investigation to help prevent unlawful activity
  • law enforcement agencies in connection with any investigation to help prevent unlawful activity
  • London Tribunals
  • Traffic Enforcement Centre
  • Enforcement agents providing collection services for outstanding penalty charge notices on behalf of the Royal Borough of Greenwich
  • Civica
  • software providers supplying systems to the Royal Borough of Greenwich's Parking Services team for the processing of penalty charge notices
  • Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).
How long we keep your information

Personal information will be retained for a maximum of six years, or as long as cases remain outstanding, after which time it will be destroyed.
