What we're thinking about building on this site

At Zangwill Road we have been given planning permission to build six net zero carbon council homes, made up of:

  • Three one-bedroom wheelchair accessible apartments with rear gardens and cycle storage
  • Three two-bedroom apartments with roof terraces

The development will vary from one to three storeys in height to let light into the street.

Each home will have its own front door and access to a bin store from the street, with bin collection from Thelma Gardens.

The development will be set back from the neighbouring buildings to ensure privacy and reduce overlooking.

A forecourt to the east will provide access to communal bin and bike stores for upper floor homes, as well as retaining access to the electricity substation.

Our plans mean the existing garages will be demolished.

The homes will be built to zero carbon standards, with a contemporary design that contributes to biodiversity and greening in the area.

Below you can see an initial street view showing how the development will look from Thelma Gardens, facing east.

How can residents have their say on our plans?

Residents were able to view and comment our first proposals for this site in February 2025 via our online consultation. Details of the approved scheme can be viewed via our Planning Portal.
