Maryon Park

Title
Maryon Park
Summary
Maryon Park is one of Greenwich's Green Flag Award-winning sites.

Formerly a quarry, it was once part of the estate of the Maryon Wilson family, former Lords of the Manor of Charlton. This large, hilly wooded site overlooks the Thames with the Green Chain Walk running through it.

It has a children's playground, basketball court and hard-surface tennis courts.

Park users have created a community food growing area on what used to be a small nursery.

Please note:
As part of Sparkle in the Park we are closing the tennis courts in Maryon park so we can use the space for part of the event. They will be closed from Monday 29 November through to Monday 6 December inclusive, re-opening again on Tuesday 7 December.

Further information
Maryon Park featured in a famous film, Blow-Up, directed by Michelangelo Antonioni. Released in 1966, the film, a surreal murder mystery set in swinging London, starred David Hemmings, Vanessa Redgrave, Sarah Miles, John Castle and Jane Birkin.

Local volunteers have worked to convert an overgrown plot of land (previously the site of council greenhouses) into allotments for a community food growing project. Find out more on the Friends of Maryon Parks website.
Park friends group information
The group meets roughly every other month, often at members' houses. New members are welcome.
