Blackheath

Title
Blackheath
Summary
Blackheath is one of Greenwich's Green Flag Award-winning sites, in partnership with Lewisham Council.

The land north of the A2 road is managed by the Royal Borough of Greenwich and it has a large expanse of grassland, on relatively level ground. There are some undulating areas of gorse and scrub to the east of the heath near Vanbrugh Terrace.

At the junction of Charlton Way and Prince Charles Road you can find:

- the Gibb Memorial on the heath
- the Greenwich War Memorial against the wall of Greenwich Park.

Another memorial honouring a fallen Battle of Britain pilot can be found at the other end of the heath in a secluded part known as The Point. The Point (off Point Hill) also has spectacular views across London.

There is a small pond at the junction of Charlton Way and Shooters Hill Road with a tea hut nearby.

In Chesterfield Walk there are hard surface tennis courts and a bowls green available for hire.

Please note: Greenwich Park is maintained by the Royal Parks Agency, not the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
