There are a number of nurseries and primary schools with nursery classes that are run by the Royal Borough of Greenwich. They usually provide daily two and a half hour sessions, in term-time only, for children aged between three and five years. Qualified teachers and assistants teach groups of up to around 25 children.
Royal Greenwich also has many private and independent nurseries, which are run by teams of qualified and experienced staff. They often take children who are younger than the nurseries run by the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Some take children as young as three months.
Most private nurseries are registered with Ofsted and inspected each year. Private nurseries are usually open all day for most weeks of the year. Part-time places are often available.
