The Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations 2005 involves public information that we produce as part of our public tasks.

This means:

  • public tasks that we carry out as part of our core role and function, whether it is according to legislation or done through custom and practice
  • re-use is referring to the use of public sector information for a purpose other than the initial public task it was used for

The regulation does not mean access to the information itself. Access to information is available through the Freedom of Information Act (GOV.UK) or Environmental Information Regulations (GOV.UK)

Read the guide to Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations (Information Commissioner’s Office website)
