About us and our purpose

The Multifaith Forum aims to encourage and facilitate dialogue between faith and religious groups, the council and other public sector partners.

Made up of local faith leaders, the forum is a space for the public sector and faith groups to discuss and collaborate on important topics. It’s also somewhere for the community to come together to share information and celebrate important events.

Led by members of different faiths, we’re supported by the council’s Community Development team. We hold meetings quarterly, and at other times when needed.

What we do

We provide opportunities for things like:

  • community building
  • two-way engagement with local faith leaders and public sector organisations
  • networking

We also help develop relationships with key people in the statutory, private, and voluntary sectors. Together we acknowledge the importance of faith groups in supporting residents.

Who can get involved

The Multifaith Forum is open to faith leaders from all faiths and religions in Royal Greenwich, and representatives of public sector organisations.

Our impact

The borough's first ever Multifaith Week took place from 23 to 27 September 2024. A great success, the event celebrated all faiths and religions in the borough. We came together through a series of discussions and activities, enabling people from across the borough to get together.

The Multifaith Forum held a special meeting in response to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Faith leaders from various communities across the borough were invited to discuss community cohesion and relations in the Royal Borough of Greenwich in the context of this conflict.

The Multifaith Forum supported residents and staff during the recent riots in Southport. We engaged with local community groups, the police and the council to help in any way we could.
