Charges for interpreting services
Language interpretation
Face to face
RGS interpreters:
- £45 for the first hour
- £11.25 for every 15 minutes after the first hour
- £5.25 daily Oyster card fee for travel to sessions within the borough
£10 an hour travel charge for any travel outside the borough
Any parking charges
External agency interpreters:
Charged at the rate set by the external agency
- We can provide a copy of all agency invoices
Phone
- £0.75 a minute, minimum duration 15 minutes
- £10 admin fee
Video call (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, WhatsApp)
- £0.75 a minute, minimum duration 15 minutes
- £21 admin fee
Cancellation charges
We will not charge you if you cancel with more than 24 hours’ notice.
If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, we’ll charge you for either:
- the full cost of your booking
- a one-hour booking, if your booking is for less than one hour
Translation
- £0.125 a word, minimum amount 100 words
- £21.50 admin fee
British Sign Language (BSL)
For a freelance BSL interpreter for 1 to 3 hours, you should expect to pay at least £185.
You will also need to pay the interpreter’s travel costs.
The total charge depends on whether the booking is:
- made at short notice
- out of hours or on a weekend
- a complex job
- with an in-house, freelance or agency interpreter
You'll need 2 BSL interpreters for:
sessions longer than 1 hour
complex cases or presentations that are not suitable for one interpreter to do alone
BSL cancellation charges
We will not charge you if you cancel with more than 14 days’ notice.
We’ll charge 50% of your fee if you cancel with between 8 and 14 days’ notice.
We’ll charge the full fee if you cancel with less than 8 days’ notice.
Invoices
We invoice external customers monthly and complete regular journal transfers for internal customers.
All transactions for external customers are subject to VAT.
