If you’ve lost your dog, you can:
Fees for returning a dog
You'll need to pay the £25 statutory fee the first time we return your dog.
If your dog strays again
Before we return your dog, you’ll need to pay:
- £25 statutory return fee
- £97.82 fees and charges
- £17.99 for every day we had to keep the dog in a kennel
- any vet bills
Microchip your dog
By law your dog must have a microchip and be registered on a database.
When you get a dog, you must update your details on the database. This makes it easier to return it if it goes missing.
Get your dog or cat microchipped (GOV.UK).
If your dog does not have a microchip, you could be fined up to £2,500.
