Serious Violence Duty

We must work in partnership with local services to share information to prevent and reduce serious violence in our borough. 

We work with: 

  • the police
  • probation services
  • youth justice teams
  • fire and rescue services
  • public health teams

Our definition of serious violence 

Serious violence is any violence and exploitation, domestic abuse and sexual violence. It includes: 

  • domestic abuse
  • homicide
  • grievous bodily harm (GBH)
  • actual bodily harm
  • rape
  • assault by penetration
  • sexual assault
  • personal robbery
  • threats to kill
  • violence against property
