There is overwhelming consensus among scientists, governments and diplomats around the world. The climate crisis is real and poses a grave threat to lives, food sources, natural habitats, global health and economies all across the world.

That’s why we declared a climate emergency in 2019, and it’s why we’ve since developed our Carbon Neutral Plan. Decarbonising our society is our best chance to combat the dangers presented by climate change.

Our Carbon Neutral Plan outlines what the council is doing to cut emissions, protect our natural environments and embrace clean energy in our borough.

Our ambitious Local Plan outlines our commitment to setting a leading example in climate action.

But we can't do it alone—so we're encouraging local people, businesses, and organisations to join us in making these vital changes to both practices and individual behaviours in Royal Greenwich.

We’ve divided the plan into seven themes, each with a distinct action plan on how we’re going to play our part on a local level in the fight against climate change.
