Apply for a venue licence to hold weddings and civil partnerships

This information is for event venues wanting to hold wedding and civil partnership ceremonies. 

You need a licence, also known as a grant of approval, for your venue if you’re a: 

• non-religious venue wanting to hold wedding or civil partnership ceremonies
• religious venue wanting to hold civil partnership ceremonies 

A licence (approval certificate) is for 5 years. 

Weddings and civil partnerships may be between a man and a women, or between 2 people of the same sex.
