About pavement licences
Businesses can apply for a pavement licence if they want to place tables, chairs and other furniture on a public street outside their premises.
This applies to:
- cafés and ice cream parlours
- pubs and bars
- restaurants
When you can comment on an application
Once a business submits a pavement licence application, there’s a 14-day consultation period. This is an opportunity for members of the public to comment on the application.
The business must clearly display a site consultation notice at their premises for the 14-day consultation period. It should be in a window or on a door.
