How we make licensing decisions
There's a public consultation period for licence applications.
If there are no valid objections at the end of the consultation period, we’ll grant the licence automatically.
If there are objections, our Licensing Sub-committee will decide whether or not to grant the licence.
Comment on a licence application
You can comment on a licence application during its consultation period.
You cannot comment on a licence we’ve already issued. But, in some cases, you can request a review of a licence.
We publish a list of new applications every week. This shows:
- new licence applications
- applications to change existing licences – these are known as ‘variations’ and usually involve extending licensing hours

We also publish licence notices for:
- licence variation applications
- marriage and civil partnership licence applications
- other licensing announcements
