You need a prize gaming permit to hold gaming with prizes on your premises.

Prize gaming is where the organiser puts up the prizes in advance. It’s different from other gaming where gamblers’ stakes make up the winnings.

A typical example is bingo played at seaside amusement arcades.

Who can offer prize gaming

Premises authorised to offer prize gaming (subject to certain conditions) are:

• holders of an adult gaming centre premises licence
• holders of a family entertainment centre premises gambling licences
• holders of a family entertainment centre gaming machine permit
• travelling fairs
• bingo halls

Who can apply for a permit

To apply for a permit, you:

• must be aged 18 or over
• be the person who occupies the premises
• cannot be the holder of a club gaming permit or a premises licence
