Who can apply
You can apply for a licensed premises gaming machine permit only if your premises:
- has an on-premises alcohol licence
- alcohol sales is the main function of your premises
- contains a bar at which alcohol is served
- there are no licence conditions requiring alcohol to be served only with food and only at a time when alcohol may be sold
You cannot apply if alcohol sales are secondary to any other activities, such as food sales.
The purpose is to make sure that unaccompanied children are not allowed into premises that where gaming machines are available.
When you need to apply
If you want 1 or 2 gaming machines
Your licence for alcohol sales automatically entitles you to have 2 Category C or Category D gaming machines on the premises.

- give notice of your intention before making the machines available
- pay the relevant fee

If you want more than 2 gaming machines
For more than 2 gaming machines, you need to apply to us for a licensed premises gaming machine permit.
This will allow you to provide any number of Category C or D machines on your premises.
