What the Woolwich Big Screen is
The Woolwich Big Screen is a 25-square-metre outdoor screen in General Gordon Square.
It was installed in 2009 as part of the London Olympics legacy, in partnership with the BBC and LOCOG.
The screen offers free, year-round entertainment for residents and visitors. You can watch:
- live broadcasts of major sports and cultural events
- BBC news, arts, and documentaries
- Local films, photographs, and community content
General Gordon Square is designed for comfort and accessibility. It has built-in seating, landscaped terraces, and open space, making it a relaxing place to enjoy live screenings, meet friends, or catch up on current events outdoors.
