About the Reuse and Recycling Centre (public tip - cars only)
The Reuse and Recycling Centre (formerly known as the amenity site, the tip or the waste disposal site), is now easier and safer for Royal Greenwich residents to dispose of their household waste.
Residents with a disposal permit can dispose of a range of materials for free at the site, which is situated in Nathan Way, Thamesmead. This site does not accept trade or commercial waste.
This facility is operated by our contractors Veolia Environmental Services and is a 'no smoking' facility.

Resident disposal permit
Site staff may ask to see your disposal permit or proof that you are a Royal Greenwich resident. This is to stop traders and commercial waste producers from tipping their waste in a public site.
If you have not brought your Royal Greenwich resident disposal permit, a photo ID and recent utility bill or bank statement proving that you are a resident in Royal Greenwich will be enough.
To obtain a permit, contact Customer Services to request an application form.
Note: The free residents' service at the public site is for cars only. If you are driving a van to the site, you will need to use the commercial waste disposal service.
Household hazardous waste
Please note that the Reuse and Recycling Centre no longer accepts chemicals, paints and other hazardous waste. Residents can contact the City of London to arrange a collection, or find out more about household hazardous waste disposal using the link on this page.
