About our current Mayor

The Mayor of the Royal Borough of Greenwich for 2018 to 2019 is Councillor Christine May.

Mayor Christine MayChristine was born in Lambeth and has lived in Greenwich for over 30 years with her husband and two sons.

She worked for the Post Office and various charities before retiring in 2016.

Christine was elected as a Labour Councillor in the 2010 Council Elections in the Middle Park and Sutcliffe Ward and re-elected for a third term in May 2018, this time as a Labour and Co-operative Councillor.

During her eight years as a Councillor, she has served on many panels including the Safer and Stronger Communities Scrutiny Panel and the Health Scrutiny Panel for Adults and Older People. Christine has also been the Chair and Secretary/Treasurer of Labour Group.

A keen Charlton fan, Christine loves animals and has several pets.
