Restrictions within Royal Greenwich

There are dedicated parking spaces through Royal Greenwich for Blue Badge holders, but there are some restrictions on where you can and can't park.

Where you can park

You can park for free in Royal Greenwich for an unlimited time unless signs specify otherwise at any of the following:

You can park on a yellow line (single and double) for up to three hours so long as there isn't a loading ban and you don't cause an obstruction.

Please note that:

  • this only applies to Royal Greenwich - for parking in other local authority areas, you need to check signs or the local authority's website
  • you must make sure that your Blue Badge is clearly displayed and shows the expiry date and arrival time for time-restricted areas
  • other vehicles can also park in disabled bays for up to 20 minutes to load or unload goods.

Where you can't park

You can't park in bays reserved for specific users including:

  • permit-holder only bays
  • resident permit only bays
  • loading bays
  • taxi bays
  • doctors' bays.

Read the Blue Badge rights and responsibilities booklet (Department for Transport) for more guidance on where you can and can't park.

Congestion charge

As a Blue Badge holder, you don't have to pay the congestion charge, but you must register with the Transport for London at least 10 days before your journey.

Using your Blue Badge overseas

The Blue Badge is recognised in all European countries, but the concessions on where, when and for how long you can park differ from country to country.

For travel in non-EU countries, you should take the badge with you and ask if you can use it.
