Check the hygiene rating of a food business

Food Hygiene Rating Scheme

Display showing food hygiene rating of 5: Very good

The national scheme gives you information about hygiene standards in the places you like to go to eat out, as well as supermarkets and other food shops.

Please note: Food businesses that don't provide food directly to the consumer - such as manufacturers and wholesalers - aren't rated under this scheme. This includes places not normally considered to be a food business such as a pharmacy. New businesses may not have been rated yet so their rating may not appear on the list.

This form searches Food Standards Agency ratings and displays results in a new window.

Businesses are given a window sticker and certificate showing their rating. In England, display is voluntary so not all businesses may have put their sticker up in the window or on the door but if you don't see it, you can ask them.

About the scheme

The Royal Borough of Greenwich runs the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme in partnership with the Food Standards Agency.

The aim is to reduce the number of cases of food poisoning, which affects around a million people in the UK every year.
