The bus tour launch coincides with Co-operatives Fortnight which runs from 17 June to 1 July and aims to promote how working together makes a difference.

Greenwich Bus Tours will run weekly on Thursdays from 29 June from 10.15am to 1.30pm. Tickets cost £35 for adults, £22 for children and £106 for a family ticket for two adults and two children.

The pick-up point is on Stockwell Street opposite the Café Rouge and Ibis Hotel, and drop-off is in the same place or the Royal Observatory.

About the tours

Volunteer Centre Greenwich's new social enterprise includes a guided tour of Jacobean mansion Charlton House, a visit to the Thames Barrier and entry to Severndroog Castle - including the viewing platform which is one of the highest points in London.

A local volunteer will provide lively and informative on board commentary and pass on interesting information, quirky facts and stories of Greenwich and the surrounding area.

The guides will receive the training and experience they need to develop skills for a career in tourism and all profits will be donated back to Volunteer Centre Greenwich to enable them to continue their work supporting local people and organisations.

Volunteer Centre Greenwich are also offering a bus tour which visits Eltham Palace and Severndroog Castle and the development of further tours is already underway.
