The annual event showcasing Eltham's visitor attractions takes place on Sunday 2 April.

With a host of activities and historical adventures, whether you're looking to find out more about the local area, or just looking for a fun day out, there's plenty on offer for intrepid local tourists.

What's on

Guided walks

Join Greenwich Get Walking on a tour of local parks at 10am. They'll be taking a route through Avery Hill Park and the Winter Gardens, down the meandering Gravel Pit Lane, past the Long Pond in Eltham Park North to finish at Well Hall Pleasaunce by 12.30, just in time for lunch at the Tudor Barn. There will be some interesting history, facts and beautiful views to capture the imagination. The four mile route is a mixture of made and unmade path and may be muddy in places. Meet outside the main entrance of Eltham Library.

There is a free guided walk of the town centre starting at 2pm and meeting outside the main gate at Eltham Palace.

Eltham Lodge

Join a free guided tour of the historic Eltham Lodge, the Grade 1 listed clubhouse of the Royal Blackheath Golf Club. Tours start at 10am, 10.30am and 11am.

Eltham Palace

Greenwich residents can experience the historic splendour on show at Eltham Palace for 25 per cent discount (subject to proof of residence). Doors are open from 10am to 4pm, with last admission at 3pm.

St John's church

Explore the historic St John's Church from 11am to 1pm with the parish Eucharist at 10am.

Eltham fire station

Eltham Fire Station will be welcoming the public in from 11am to 3pm.

Bob Hope Theatre

The Bob Hope Theatre will be open to the public between 11.30am and 3.30pm, with memorabilia on display and complimentary refreshments available.

Eltham Police station

The local police team at Eltham Police station open their doors to the public from 1pm to 3pm. It's an opportunity for children to try on a police uniform and there'll be a children's colouring-in competition with prizes, finger printing and police cadets in attendance and a crime prevention stall.

University of Greenwich

Visit the University of Greenwich in Avery Hill at 2pm for a tour of the mansion and an exhibition of college life. They'll be providing free refreshments. Meet outside the main entrance of mansion.

This year, 'Be a Local Tourist' coincides with English Tourism Week, a celebration of events showcasing the quality and vibrancy of the visitor experiences and the value the industry brings to the UK.
