Victims of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides will be remembered.

Holocaust Memorial Day is marked each year on 27 January, the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp. In addition to remembering the millions of victims of the Holocaust and Nazi persecution, Holocaust Memorial Day provides an opportunity to remember the victims of the subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Bosnia, Rwanda and Darfur.

This year, the theme for Holocaust Memorial Day 2017 is 'How can life go on?'

'Reflect on those who lost their lives'

The Leader of the Royal Borough, Denise Hyland, said: "These memorial events allow us to reflect on those who lost their lives in the Holocaust and in the other tragic genocides that have taken place across the globe. Such events underpin the importance of communities working together and speaking in one unified voice against the forces of hate and intolerance."
