Saturday 3 December is dedicated to celebrating and supporting small businesses.

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is asking residents to share the love for their favourite small business this Saturday 3 December.

Last year's Small Business Saturday saw 25 million people out nationally, spending a total of £623million with small businesses on the day. With Christmas fast approaching, now is just the time for people to show their support for their favourite small business.

Huge variety of shopping

But it's not just about Christmas shopping - across the Royal Borough there are a huge range of small, family-owned businesses and independent traders offering everything from high fashion to arts and crafts, personalised and unusual gifts to dry-cleaners and double-glazing, and from creative florists to tasty delicatessens.

Free parking in Council run car parks

To support Small Business Saturday, all Council run car parks will be free to park in all day on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 December.

Keep our high streets thriving

Councillor Sizwe James, Cabinet Member for Transport, Economy and Smart Cities, said: "The retail sector in Royal Greenwich is incredibly diverse, offering a huge range of quality products and services, and it is vital that we support them to keep our high streets and town centres thriving. Not only do they provide all the things we need in our daily lives, but they also provide jobs for local people, and help keep our local economy thriving.

Share the love on Twitter

"So, this Small Business Saturday, please go out and show your love for your favourite local business - why not take a selfie with your favourite small business and tweet us your images - use the hashtag #SmallBusinessSaturday and share with the council using @Royal_Greenwich.

"And if you use your Greenwich One Card, you can also grab yourself a discount from participating businesses in the process!"

Businesses get involved

Many small businesses across the borough will be displaying a Small Business Saturday logo in their windows. Businesses who want to get involved with Small Business Saturday should contact the Council's Business Engagement team on business@royalgreenwich.gov.uk
