The well-known high street brand returns to Woolwich as part of ongoing development.

The Foodhall opens on Wednesday 7 December at 10am and is situated in Cadet House on Plumstead Road, part of the exciting Royal Arsenal Riverside development by Berkeley Homes.

Providing local jobs

Boasting an ideal location for local residents and commuters alike - with the new Crossrail station set to open just a stone's throw away in 2018 - M&S Foodhall Woolwich has created more than 40 jobs, many of which have been filled by staff from the previous Woolwich store.

Opening its doors just in time for Christmas, the Foodhall will be stocked with tempting winter warmers and mouth-watering meals. From festive lunchtime treats and luxury biscuit tins to the ultimate dinner party canapés, classic cocktails and show-stopping desserts, the new Woolwich store will cater to everyone's Christmas food and drink needs. Customers will also be able to enjoy a hot beverage and selection of delicious snacks and light meals in the new cafe.

'Adding a new shopping dimension'

Councillor Denise Hyland, Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, said: "Woolwich town centre is undergoing an exciting period of regeneration with new interest from residents and businesses looking to relocate here and so it is wonderful to be able to welcome Marks and Spencer back to its heart. As M&S is one of our most recognisable high street brands, this new store will add a new shopping dimension to the Woolwich Arsenal Cultural Quarter as well as provide job opportunities for local people."

Calvin Sheridan, store manager at M&S Foodhall Woolwich, said: "The team and I are so happy to be part of the local community in Woolwich again. We are very much looking forward to joining this exciting new development and will endeavour to make every moment special for our customers. The countdown is now on for the official launch of our new Foodhall and we can't wait to welcome new and returning customers on Wednesday 7 December."

Karl Whiteman, divisional managing director at Berkeley Homes (East Thames), added: "Marks and Spencer's return to Woolwich is an important contribution to the growing retail and commercial offer in the area.  We're excited to welcome its team to Royal Arsenal Riverside, which is fast becoming a first-rate destination where residents and visitors alike can shop, dine and relax."

Wide variety of food and drink

The store will also offer a variety of M&S's everyday essentials, popular prepared meals, speciality, beers, wines and spirits. Shoppers will be able to take advantage of the Christmas Food to Order service, with final orders needing to be placed by 5pm on Thursday 15 December.

The popular 'Shop Your Way' service will also give customers the option to have their online orders delivered to the store for free.
