Winter trees

The Royal Borough of Greenwich invites residents to help plant 1500 new trees at Altash Gardens.

Come along to our free community planting day on Saturday 25 February 2023 from 11am to 2pm.

Tools and instructions will be provided, just bring warm clothes, snacks and be prepared for mud!

You can join in for the whole session or just come along for a short time. The event is suitable for tree planting beginners or experienced planters. All are welcome, you’ll just need to reserve a space to ensure the team have a tree ready for you. Participants will be planting a native mix of small trees next to Altash Gardens.

Councillor Adel Khaireh, Cabinet Member for Equalities, Culture and Communities, said: “With the help of local residents, we’re creating a community woodland for people in the Altash Gardens area to enjoy.

“The woodland will increase natural biodiversity, reduce air pollution and make the site more attractive for residents and wildlife alike to enjoy. Our tree planting day is a great opportunity to get outside and have some fun with family, friends and other members of your community.

“Come along and plant your very own tree, and watch it grow over the next few years!”

Date: Saturday 25 February 2023
