Ten years on from the moment the Royal Borough of Greenwich gained its royal status, it seems only right that the borough announces its plans to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The celebrations will kick off a huge summer of events for 2022.
Cllr Danny Thorpe, Leader of the Council said: “Royal Greenwich Together 2021 was the highlight of the Council's calendar last year and we're thrilled to be able to bring our community together once again this summer.
This year, we have an extra reason to celebrate to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee so we are planning full weekend of fun for all the family - whether you'll be attending, performing or setting up a stall, we can't wait to see residents from across the borough getting involved.”

Running in calendar order, first up on the agenda is the return of Royal Greenwich Together. After its success in 2021, the Council has decided to bring the festival back with live music, workshops, funfair rides, food stalls and so much more!

Platinum Picnic in Park
Just one day later, Royal Greenwich will be celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style along with the rest of the nation. Already rich in royal heritage, the borough is sure to pull out all the stops hosting a summers day of picnicking.
The event will have large areas for families to enjoy food and drinks, while they watch performances from Royal Greenwich Festival partners.
Date: Friday 3 June
Time: 12 to 4pm
Location: Charlton Park, SE7
Arts and culture organisations have been asked to apply to the Royal Greenwich festivals fund which will help provide entertainment at a lot of these events. Applications are still open until Monday 28 February via royalgreenwich.gov.uk/RGFfunding.
The Council is also on the look out for local traders who want to pitch up a stall at the events – if this sounds like you, contact the events team at events@royalgreenwich.gov.uk.
Cllr Adel Khaireh, Cabinet Member for Culture, Communities and Equalities said: “As a Royal Borough, and only this week celebrating our own milestone of ten years since gaining this status, we’re set to go bigger and better than ever at our summer events in 2022.
I would like to encourage organisations to apply to the Royal Greenwich Funding, as they will also be able to put on a royal-themed performance at the picnic on 3 June.”
