The residents of Royal Greenwich will be able to enjoy magical events across the whole borough this festive season.

Hosted by the Royal Borough of Greenwich, these spectacular free events will begin to enchant our lives from November all the way through until the end of December. This is a great excuse to come together with friends and family, and as a community, to get festive before the end of the year.

Cllr Adel Khaireh, Cabinet Member for Culture, Communities and Equalities said “The countdown to Christmas is officially here, and we’re making it the biggest and best countdown yet. Not only are we bringing back some of our residents' favourite events, but we have a new and exciting art installation that is going to transform Woolwich. I hope to see many residents gleaming with joy at these events, that are free for all the family!”

The extravaganzas kick off early with the town centre Christmas tree switch-ons in Greenwich, Eltham, Thamesmead and Woolwich. Each of these locations will have wonderful winter markets for you to shop local, support your high streets and start filling your stockings. More information on each event can be found on the council’s website.

Next up on the advent calendar is a twinkling light installation on 10 and 11 December. The Globoscope exhibition comes to Woolwich’s General Gordon Square for two nights only, giving you the chance to walk through a sea of illuminated spheres, making for the perfect picturesque winter stroll.

Finally, the word around town is true! Sparkle in the Park is returning from 1 to 5 December to a new, extra special location, Maryon Park. The Royal Borough of Greenwich is inviting you to jolly on through an immersive after-dark light trail under glittering trees and fantastic fire art installations, with interactive experiences along the way.

All the events are free and require no booking, so come and join the Royal Borough of Greenwich as they giddy up for Christmas. For the latest information on the fabulous festivities visit royalgreenwich.gov.uk/christmas
