Royal Greenwich opens Best of Business Awards to the public vote

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is today announcing which businesses have been shortlisted for the Best of Royal Greenwich Business Awards, in association with U+I and supported by the South East London Chamber of Commerce.

Royal Greenwich’s business community has responded quickly, regularly going above and beyond over the past 18 months. Just 54 businesses made it to the exclusive shortlist from over 235 applications, and they will find out if they'll be taking home a trophy on 22 October at a glitzy ceremony hosted by Meera Syal CBE.

Now it is the public’s turn to vote. The council is opening two of the nine award categories to the public vote. The finalists for the Food and Hospitality, and the High Street Retailer groups are now available to view so the public can vote for the final winners.

Head Judge, Councillor Mariam Lolavar, said:

“It was an awe-inspiring moment reading through all of the amazing applications this year. So many businesses in Royal Greenwich have battled the pandemic, setting themselves up online or running special orders to reach customers in isolation, even changing work patterns to protect staff wellbeing. It has certainly been tough to whittle the entries down to just six finalists per category, but what is brilliant to see is that so many businesses started up this year.

“Companies across the borough have gone on to build tourism back, invent new products to help local people, or change their ways of working like never before. What is so wonderful is that there is still a patchwork of corporate companies and small enterprises growing across Royal Greenwich, with start-ups shaking things up and individuals making their workplaces greener and leaner.

“We are showcasing just how brilliant business is in our borough by celebrating all of these stories, struggles and successes.”
