Royal Greenwich is today extending nominations for its Best of Royal Greenwich Business Awards in association with U+I and supported by the South East London Chamber of Commerce for a further nine days.   

The Borough is preparing to boost local businesses and celebrate their amazing efforts over the pandemic. Many businesses rose to the challenge by providing superb customer service over lockdowns, reaching out to residents and even changing their own ways of working to keep staff and locals safe.  

Royal Greenwich is now calling for more businesses to apply to the awards. There are nine categories to apply to, with two specially chosen as the top pick on the awards night in October, one by the Leader of the Council and one by the Judges. The awards are being held at the InterContinental O2 Hotel on Friday 22 October. 

Mo-Sys Engineering, winner of the 2020 Business of the Year Award, has seen the business grow from around 30 staff to 75 since winning the award.  

Nominations are now open until the end of 12 September with categories ranging from Young Entrepreneurs to Greener Greenwich. Entry is free and winners could stand a chance of winning a £3,000 marketing budget as well as a glitzy award.  

Cllr Mariam Lolavar, Royal Greenwich lead for Business and Growth, said:  

“Local companies got us through the most turbulent time in recent memory. People in trades and professions across the borough stood up to deliver, be it groceries for residents or ways of helping staff to keep working from home.   

“With the country reopening, it is high time to celebrate what has been achieved despite all the sorrow. We can now set a path for the future with the local business leaders who give so much to our community. We now have a fantastic opportunity to uplift what local people have been doing for our part of London with the Best of Greenwich Business Awards.

It also recognises how businesses have adapted and innovated to sustain their business.
