The Eltham Centre is a multipurpose community hub which includes a library, swimming pools, gym, fitness rooms, café and council customer services desk.

The council is proud of the services that we provide there and recently invested £140,000 in reopening the library, remodelling the first floor and increasing the space for gym activities, to keep up with demand.

The customer services desk was temporarily closed during the pandemic and the café area is currently being used as a COVID-19 testing site. The council is working with Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) to develop plans which will improve the Eltham Centre for our residents, make the most of the space and provide more facilities. Customer services will continue to be provided at the Eltham Centre, as well as a café when the space becomes available again. We also want to be clear that the council is not withdrawing from Eltham and will actually be increasing the offer of council services available to residents.

Cllr Linda Perks, Cabinet Member for Finance and Resources, said:

“Whilst many of us are doing more online, the council will continue to provide services at the Eltham Centre for our residents who do not have internet or telephone access. There are other services that could be provided on the site too, and a café will certainly be part of our plans. We want to do more with the Eltham Centre, not less, and we will keep residents informed as our plans develop.”

Keep an eye on the council’s resident bulletin and Greenwich Info to be kept up to date with announcements.
